Features

Seedbed Sensing Technology to Measure Agronomic Quality of the Seedbed

New on the Tiger-Mate® 255 in 2018, AFS Soil Command™ is the first seedbed monitoring technology that allows producers to measure and optimize the agronomic quality of their seedbed — right from the tractor cab. This advanced technology delivers real-time feedback from the seedbed. This helps the operator make yield-enhancing adjustments and eliminate the presence of an uneven seedbed floor that causes planter row unit bounce.

Customize Your Field Cultivator for Desired Seedbed Conditions

Now, the Tiger-Mate® 255 field cultivator has even more features to help you maximize yield potential. A new rear hitch accommodates an additional pull-type conditioning system. Plus, a 32-foot single-fold option allows for more narrow transport. And three new harrow options not only are designed with the flexibility to be effective in almost any soil but also can be easily adjusted to your specific field conditions — helping you achieve your perfect finish.

Monitor agronomic quality

  • Built on Agronomic Design™ principles, AFS Soil Command helps producers fix seedbed issues before they become an issue for the planter.
  • Sensors mounted to select Tiger-Mate 255 shank assemblies alert the operator when the shanks begin to float, resulting in an uneven seedbed floor.
  • The AFS Pro 700 display interface makes it easy for operators of any skill level to effectively monitor the Tiger-Mate 255.
  • Green, yellow or red indicators of performance are simple and easy to understand.

Create a high-efficiency seedbed

  • A high-efficiency seedbed is required for higher efficiency planting, and fast, uniform emergence.
  • This is a seedbed with a smooth surface finish and flat seedbed floor for the planter row unit to ride on.
  • Each time the field cultivator shank trips or floats, the sweep pivots and creates gouges in the seedbed floor that make the planter row unit bounce.

Reliable sensing technology

  • AFS Soil Command integrates reliable precision technology into each tillage pass.
  • Factory-installed sensors are seamlessly integrated into the Tiger-Mate 255 to provide real-time, quality feedback to the operator on any ISOBUS-VT compliant display.
  • The sensors are built with dependable AFS components, matching the performance and ruggedness of the field cultivator.

Shank Assembly

Firm Yet Flexible Shank

The workhorse component of the Tiger-Mate 255 is the superior shank assembly, combining force and flexibility to support field speeds of up to 10 miles per hour. Thicker shanks, a beefed-up shank guard channel and increased holding power help you manage fast-changing springtime field conditions.

Better Soil and Residue Management

  • Swept back, high-concavity shank design helps soil ramp up and explode higher to effectively mix particles, break down tough clods and level the soil.
  • Thicker, stronger shanks — 11/16-inch compared with the previous 5/8-inch — match to spring pressure for ideal performance.
  • Greater residue throughput thanks to 6.5-inch shank spacing that ensures better soil mixing and improved residue distribution.

Increased Spring Force

  • Greater spring force delivers a 20 percent increase in holding power, allowing the field cultivator to penetrate hard soils, even at higher speeds.
  • Proportional increase in spring force and shank thickness keeps sweeps parallel to the ground for a consistently flat subsurface floor, more accurate seed placement and uniform seedling emergence.

Enhanced Durability

  • Shank guard channel ensures stability through turns and provides even loading and added durability.
  • A 5/8-inch main shank pivot bolt holds tight to stabilize spring pressure and improves the durability of the dual bushing pivot point.
  • Low-maintenance features include clamp-style shank mounts, single-bolt installation, welded cylinder and greaseless bearings.
